About Gurbux Saini

Gurbux Saini is a lifelong community advocate and proud Member of Parliament for Fleetwood–Port Kells. His journey—from arriving in Canada in 1970 with just $8 in his pocket to becoming a lumber piler to a plant manager and public servant—is a testament to his resilience, work ethic, and deep commitment to service.

With roots in Williams Lake, B.C., Gurbux served seven terms as City Councillor, chairing key committees such as Finance, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation. His leadership extended beyond his municipality through his work with the North Central Municipal Association, where he championed issues affecting rural and northern communities.

Gurbux brings a wealth of experience to federal politics, having served on provincial boards including the BC Liquor Appeal Board, BC Commercial Appeals, and the BC Tourist Advisory Commission.

Now based in Surrey, Gurbux has remained deeply engaged in civic life. Since relocating to Fleetwood–Port Kells in 2016, he has led local infrastructure improvements—from adding park washrooms and benches to spearheading plans for a walking track and community centre in Chimney Heights Park.

In Parliament, Gurbux is focused on delivering for families, growing the middle class, and building strong, inclusive communities. He is working closely with Prime Minister Mark Carney to advance key priorities like affordable housing, public transit, climate action, and support for small businesses.

Honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award, Gurbux continues to advocate for equitable opportunities and community-driven progress. As the Member of Parliament for Fleetwood–Port Kells, he is a tireless voice for the riding—focused on practical solutions that improve lives and build a better future for all Canadians.
